Olivia Cox: Honest, Moving Forward

Made Friends does not rush itself into being, rather it invites you to wade into it. The pulse comes first, followed by the voice that speaks as someone who has learned many lessons in life the hard way. This single will be released on the 16th January 2026 and feels less like an introduction and more like a momentum checkpoint - breath held, shoulders back, still moving ahead.

This track was written by Olivia Cox and recorded in Northern Ireland with producer Aaron Brennan. Olivia uses water as a metaphor throughout the song — drowning, surfacing, accepting the pull. You can hear this through the way the production has an ebb and flow, like waves, as well as through how the melody swings back and forth between tension and release.

There is a polished pop production here but also it's dirty; beer on your breath after a long night out, static in your chest, concrete underneath tired feet and ashes of what has been burnt but not regretted.

Olivia's musical background includes the likes of The Beatles to Amy Winehouse and you can see it through her quiet delivery on all her work. She is a storyteller with her music, instead of being an entertainer; however, the hooks will catch you fast and stay with you. The visual imagery tied to the music supports this idea as well with muted colours, movement, and the feeling of weather passing through, rather than escaping it.

The episode of “Made Friends” provides a traditional storyline of recognition of struggles, release of resistance and reclaiming of strength. The message resonates with modern daily life in a straightforward manner, allowing listeners to relate to them appropriately. The narrator has experienced both victory/defeat so the content does have a degree of authenticity while being relatable enough to reach the listener in the current moment.
