Zachary Mason Comes Home To Folk On Welcome To My Heart
Previously, autumn had a different significance for Zachary Mason, however, after the doctor prescribed him some medication, it appeared that this time was gone for good. That is how Welcome to My Heart sets off – the opening track brings the story about the unique sorrow of medicine that dulls the feeling that is desired.
So, the EP marks a re-emergence of Zachary Mason. Two years having been influenced by rock music, he finally returned to his roots – folk music. Three songs, three different moods, but all of them sharing a common emotional pattern: sadness without melodrama, struggle without asking for pity and endurance which is real and not brought in.
I Need Freedom continues the self-revelation process, being agitated and left unanswered. One of Mason’s favorite pieces – Me And I, wraps the piece up presenting the mood of acceptance. The music is very simple and adapted to the lyrics.
The credits reveal an intriguing mixture of different talents. David E Beats who has been nominated for a Grammy, has produced the entire project and added some bass and rhythm guitar on track two while Nate Barnes has done the drums for two out of the three songs. John Thomasson who is famous for working with the American band Little Big Town has provided the bass for the last song.
Since 2021 Mason has been developing his private catalogue consisting of more than 200 demos using equipment that is either given to him by a relative or bought at Andertons nearby.
