TEENAGE BOYS, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

POP

Being a teenage girl in 2026 is exhausting due to the number of broken promises from guys who don't follow through on things after making them. Savia Ashby understands this feeling well from her own experiences as a teenager, and she channeled that exhaustion into her new single "Juiceboxx", which was released on March 12th.

The Oakville artist's second single is a complete contrast to her first single, which was a stripped-down ballad where she had no place to hide her vocals. "Juiceboxx" was recorded at Slaight Music Studios in Toronto with producer Ben Lucid, and features multiple vocal tracks that create an opportunity for Ashby's personality to come through. The outro contains a vocal drop that sounds like Ashby is dropping the microphone after performing.

One of the reasons this song has such an impact is because of how the hip hop and R&B elements of the song blend with its pop roots. However, the biggest impact comes from the attitude in the song. Ashby refers to the energy from the song as "savage baddie energy" - and this absolutely makes sense! This song does not represent a girl who is heartbroken by what has happened in the past, rather it represents a girl who has watched enough broken promises happen, and has decided that it is now time to stand back and laugh at all of these failed promises.

Many guys are making lots of promises these days yet unable to deliver, Ashby said, with amusement as opposed to malice, comedy as opposed to bitterness.

With Madison Beer, Ariana Grande, and Tate McRae as reference points, Ashby has obviously chosen the right subject matter; however, Juiceboxxx sounds like she's written her own thesis statement - self worth, delivered via comedic means, refined into something that will hold up to numerous listens.

Her next single, tunnelvision, will come out in a couple of months; however, based on what we've seen with Juiceboxxx, the lesson is just beginning!
